HISTORY OF GRACE

Our Story

In the summer of 1992, Rev. Rob Weber was appointed to a piece of property on Ellerbe Road, given $3,000, and told to go start a church. For the first six months, Pastor Rob held meetings in people’s homes, sharing a vision for a new kind of church. It was from these meetings that the core of the new congregation began to form. A group of 25-50 began meeting on Sunday evenings at Live Oak Retirement Community for Bible study, planning, prayer and singing.

The first worship service was held at Captain Shreve High School on December 5, 1992. From that first service until the Sunday in March of 1996 when a caravan of worshippers traveled from Captain Shreve to our Ellerbe road location our numbers grew but, more importantly, the vision of a new kind of faith community began to become reality.

The dedication to being a place where people could seek, connect to, and grow deeper in the truths of God’s goodness and love has never waivered. We believe that grace is for everyone. We are now commited to be, as we were more than twenty years ago and will continue to be, a community that invites all to experience the restoration that begins on the journey from seeker to servant.
